An atmospheric front will bring a change in the weather: forecast for September 2

On September 2, a cold front will determine the weather in parts of Ukraine. It will bring localized, brief showers, westerly winds, and cooler nights. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center publishes the latest forecast and weather warnings, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Where will it rain on September 2?
According to forecasters, brief showers are expected in some areas:
- in the Carpathian region;
- in most central regions;
- at night in the northern regions;
- in Kyiv and the Kyiv region during the night;
- in some parts of the Lviv region in the evening.
Precipitation will be localized, so even within a single region, rain will not fall everywhere.
In Kyiv, after a brief nighttime rain, the day is expected to be dry. In the central regions, the atmospheric front may linger longer.
The rest of Ukraine will see mostly dry weather with variable cloud cover.
What will the temperature be?
The night after the cold front passes will be noticeably cooler. In most regions, temperatures will drop to 9…15°.
Temperature forecast for September 2:
- in most regions at night — 9…15°;
- during the day — 22…27°;
- in Zakarpattia—up to 31°;
- in the southeastern part—up to 31°;
- in the Carpathians at night — 5…10°;
- in the Carpathians during the day — 17…22°.
Thus, the temperature difference between the highlands and the warmest regions of Transcarpathia and the southeast could reach approximately 14°.
Weather in Kyiv and the Kyiv region
Variable cloudiness is forecast for Kyiv and the Kyiv region. There will be a brief rain shower at night, but precipitation will stop during the day.
Temperatures in the Kyiv region:
- at night — 10…15°;
- during the day — 22… 27°.
In the capital, expect:
- at night — 13…15°;
- during the day — 23…25°.
The wind will be from the west, 5–10 m/s. No strong gusts or prolonged downpours are forecast for the capital.
What will the weather be like in the west?
The western regions will be influenced by various atmospheric processes. In the Carpathian foothills, a cold front will bring localized, short-lived showers.
In the Lviv region, the day will be mostly dry, but light rain and thunderstorms are possible in some areas in the evening. Light fog will form in some places at night and in the morning.
The warmest weather will persist in the Zakarpattia region—during the day, temperatures may reach 31°.
In the Carpathians, it will be significantly cooler:
- at night—from 5° to 10°;
- during the day—from 17° to 22°.
Tourists should be aware of possible sudden weather changes in the mountains, bring warm and waterproof clothing, and avoid challenging trails during thunderstorms.
Weather in the Central Regions
Most central regions will see brief showers in some areas. The precipitation will be associated with the passage of an atmospheric front, but no prolonged rain is forecast across the entire region.
Daytime temperatures will mostly range from 22° to 27°. A westerly wind will bring cooler air, so the heat will subside compared to the last days of August.
Despite possible localized precipitation, an extreme fire hazard will persist in many areas.
Weather in the North
In the northern regions, rain is forecast mainly at night. During the day, the weather front will gradually move out of the region, so precipitation should cease.
Temperatures at night will range from 9° to 15°, and during the day from 22° to 27°.
In the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions, be prepared for wet roads in the morning.
Weather in the South
No significant precipitation is expected across most of the south on September 2. Partly cloudy skies will persist, and daytime temperatures will mostly range from 25 to 30°.
In the Odesa region, the forecast is as follows:
- at night — 14…19°, in some places around 9°;
- during the day — 25–30°;
- winds from varying directions—3–8 m/s;
- no significant precipitation.
At night and in the morning, fog with visibility of 1–2 km is possible on some roads in the Odesa region. Drivers are advised to maintain a safe distance and avoid sudden maneuvers.
Weather in the East and Southeast
Dry and warm weather will prevail in eastern and southeastern Ukraine.
In some areas, temperatures may rise to 31°. Meanwhile, nights will be cooler—mostly 9–15°.
Due to the dry weather and high temperatures, there will continue to be a significant risk of fires in natural ecosystems.
Where an extreme fire danger has been declared
Despite localized rains, many regions will remain under an extreme (Class 5) fire danger on September 2.
The warning applies to most of the:
- northern regions;
- central regions, except for Vinnytsia;
- southern regions, except for Odesa;
- eastern regions;
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
