Ex-candidate for mayor of Kryvyi Rih found dead: what is known

Today, 8 October 2024, the former CEO of the Central Mining and Processing Plant, Dmitry Shevchik, was found dead near Kryvyi Rih. This was reported by the local edition of Svoi. Kryvyi Rih”, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
His body was reportedly found at a campsite in Kudashivka, Kryvyi Rih.
Preliminarily, the man could have killed himself with a Saiga hunting carbine.
The National Police reported that law enforcement officers from the Kryvyi Rih District Police Department, a forensic laboratory, a mobile forensic laboratory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Research and Development Centre and a forensic expert are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident.





The crime scene is being examined, material evidence is being collected, and witnesses are being identified and interviewed.
Investigators registered this incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code with a preliminary additional qualification of “suicide”.


It is noted that in April 2024, Dmitry Shevchik lost his position as CEO of the Central Mining and Processing Plant of Metinvest Group. Three mining and processing plants in Kryvyi Rih were merged as part of the optimisation.
In 2020, Dmytro Shevchyk ran for the mayor of Kryvyi Rih as a candidate of the Servant of the People party. He lost to Konstantin Pavlov, who was also found dead on 15 August 2021.
It is noted that Dmytro Shevchyk was married and had three sons.
