Elon Musk accused of secret contacts with Putin

25 October 2024 13:21

American entrepreneur Elon Musk has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since 2022. This is stated in an article by the Wall Street Journal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

This information is based on the testimony of several current and former senior officials from the United States, Europe and Russia and contradicts Musk’s previous statements that he had spoken to the Russian leader only once.

The dialogues between Musk and Putin covered a variety of topics, including personal matters, business affairs, and discussions of the geopolitical situation. In addition, the newspaper claims that Musk has been in touch with other influential Russian officials, including Sergei Kiriyenko, who serves as Putin’s first deputy chief of staff.

According to the publication, Putin even asked Musk not to activate Starlink terminals over Taiwan in the interests of China.

In this situation, it is important that Musk has access to confidential information through his cooperation with the US military and intelligence agencies. His company SpaceX signed a secret contract worth $1.8 billion in 2021 and is a key supplier of rocketry to the Pentagon and NASA.

SpaceX is also responsible for launching critical national security satellites and transporting astronauts to the International Space Station.

It is noteworthy that the US government does not appear to have been informed of these contacts between Musk and the Russian side. This is particularly interesting given Musk’s previous statements that his companies have “done more to undermine Russia than anyone else”.

According to the newspaper’s sources, representatives of the US government are expressing dissatisfaction with the contacts between Putin and Musk.
