The capacity of Ukrainian manufacturers of FPV drones in 2025 is approximately 4.5 million units. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to purchase them all.

This was announced by Hlib Kanevsky, Director of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

This year, the government will allocate more than 110 billion hryvnias for the purchase of drones. In particular, more than UAH 102 billion will be spent through the Defense Procurement Agency under the Ministry of Defense.

According to the Director of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, all procurement plans for 2025 have received budgetary funds.

In addition, it is planned that the production of drones at one of the state-owned enterprises will have a positive impact on the competition of manufacturers. Minimum markups and control by the Ministry at all stages of production should encourage other manufacturers and suppliers to reduce prices.

According to the Ministry of Defense, in 2023, the ministry purchased “thousands” of drones.

By the end of 2024, it had already purchased more than 1.5 million drones.

96% of the total amount was paid to Ukrainian manufacturers and suppliers.

What does Syrskyi say about the production of attack drones?

At a monthly meeting on the development of unmanned systems, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that the Russians are borrowing the experience of the Defense Forces to increase their own production of attack drones.

According to him, drones not only hold the frontline, but also help to advance it by destroying enemy equipment and personnel.

“I heard another intelligence report on the formation of the BPS troops in the Russian Armed Forces, where the office of the BPS chief has been formed, rapid response UAV units have been created, and the direction of fiber-optic-controlled drones is developing,” Syrsky wrote, adding that the Defense Forces are also increasing the use of fiber-optic-controlled drones.

At the same time, he emphasized that this component of the Armed Forces requires exceptional attention and maximum efforts to keep Ukraine up with the enemy in those areas of technological warfare where it must arm and strengthen itself with its own resources.

The Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief noted that in February, the Defense Forces destroyed 22% more enemy targets than in January.

“Unmanned systems have become one of the most important elements of modern warfare – they are constantly evolving, holding the frontline or even moving it forward, helping to save the lives of our soldiers, destroying personnel and equipment of the Russian aggressor.

I heard reports from the Commander of the UAV Forces on the development of capabilities, the results of combat work of unmanned systems units, as well as on the implementation of tasks for the formation and scaling of UAV units. In February, the number of enemy targets hit and destroyed was 22% higher compared to January,” he wrote.

According to Syrskyi, FPV drones and multi-rotor bombers are the most effective in striking the enemy.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that a particularly valuable part of such meetings are reports from the commanders of the UAV units on the use and development of unmanned forces and equipment.

“The important experience of “Magyar”, “Achilles” and other commanders helps to improve the work in this area in the entire Armed Forces,” emphasized Syrskyi.

The Commander-in-Chief paid special attention to the development of the Concept of Use and emphasized that there is an urgent need to introduce a single standard for the operation of unmanned systems in all units to improve coordination during combat missions.

Syrskyi set tasks for manning the relevant units of the BGS, and also issued an order to award the best servicemen.
