Odessa under drone attack: homes, a high school, and a kindergarten damaged
The Russians attacked Odesa after 1 a.m. Damage to residential buildings as well as civilian infrastructure—a local high school and a kindergarten—was reported in the city, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
Two people were injured in Odesa as a result of the drone strike— an 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man. The publication also reports that drones struck residential buildings, a school, and a kindergarten.
As a result of the enemy attack in the Kyiv and Primorsky districts of Odesa, UAV strikes were recorded on three residential buildings. One of them—a single-story house in the Primorsky district—was destroyed. The facades, roofs, and windows of the other buildings were damaged. Localized fires broke out but were quickly extinguished.
Emergency and utility services are working at the sites of the strikes.

Western Ukraine was attacked by “Shaheds”
Around 3 a.m., an air raid alert was issued for western regions of Ukraine due to the movement of attack drones.
According to reports from the Air Force, groups of drones entered the Khmelnytskyi region from the Vinnytsia region and were moving toward Starokostiantyniv. A series of explosions was heard in the region as air defense forces responded.
The explosions were also heard in Rivne. According to preliminary data, the drones were heading toward the Rivne region via the Zhytomyr region.
As of this morning, official details regarding the consequences of the attack in western Ukraine are still being clarified.
What was the nature of the Russian night attack?
The nighttime attack on May 18 was a combined operation. The Russians used several types of weapons at once:
- attack drones;
- cruise missiles;
- ballistic missiles.
Such attacks are particularly dangerous because the simultaneous use of different types of aerial targets complicates the work of air defense.
What is known about the casualties
As of this morning, there are reports of casualties in Dnipro and Odesa. In Dnipro, a child is among the wounded; in Odesa, an 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man.
The number of casualties may change as emergency services continue to work at the sites of the strikes.
