Police find “Nikopol shooter”

A man who shot at the car of Deputy Mayor Vitaliy Zhuravlev was detained in Nikopol. This was announced by the deputy head of the National Police of Ukraine Andriy Nebitov, reports

“The Nikopol shooter has been detained! We worked out the canons, as the book says! We received valuable operational information during the door-to-door rounds! Subsequently, a 33-year-old attacker who shot and blew up the car of the deputy mayor of Nikopol was found and detained,”

– he wrote on Facebook.

The Office of the Prosecutor General informed that the detainee was notified of being suspected of premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He has now been chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail.

The murder of the deputy mayor of Nikopol took place on 8 February.

According to the investigation, the suspect fired at least 20 shots at the car driven by the deputy mayor of Nikopol. He then threw explosives into the car.
