Mobilisation to be intensified from 18 May: pensioners must also register for military service

14 May 2024 17:38

Pensioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, prosecutors, tax and customs authorities, the National Police and the Judicial Protection Service will have to register for military service on 18 May, when the law on mobilisation comes into force. The spokesman for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Dmytro Lazutkin, told this on Espresso TV, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Starting from 18 May, all men aged 18 to 60 must update their data in the military registration and enlistment offices, which can be done in an electronic cabinet or at the ASC.

Lazutkin noted that the state needs to understand how many men aged 18 to 60 are healthy, what their military specialities are, and who is eligible for reservations or deferments.

“Speaking globally, from 18 May, when the law on mobilisation comes into force, the approach to this war will change. Because the story when some people are fighting and are constantly at the front, while others are living their quiet lives, is obviously coming to an end. The striking difference that was evident every time you returned from Donbas to Kyiv or Lviv or other peaceful cities is not normal. Perhaps it would be normal if we had a weak enemy, but in this case, the whole country, the whole society needs to mobilise,”

– said the spokesman for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

According to him, the state needs to understand how many men of this age are healthy, what their military specialities are, or, for example, who has a third child and is entitled to a reservation or deferment, or who has moved and changed their place of residence.

“Now, officials of category B (heads and deputy heads of state bodies) and C (other civil service positions) will be reserved only by 50%, not 100% as before. Officials of category A (senior civil service) will remain reserved. In addition, retired law enforcement officers are also now registered. This was a sensitive topic that was discussed a lot and also meets the demand for justice to some extent,”

– emphasised Dmitry Lazutkin.

How to update data in the CCP

For those who are in Ukraine, there are three ways to update their data:

  • to come to the CCP and the JV on your own;
  • through administrative service centres;
  • through an electronic cabinet.

If you are abroad, you can provide such data to the official e-mail address or telephone number of the CCP, which must be indicated on the official website of such CCP, or through the electronic cabinet. It is planned that the update through the ASC should start working from 17 May, and the electronic cabinet – from 17 June.

What does the law on mobilisation provide for?
