Privatbank purchased a batch of the latest iPhones at inflated prices

State-owned Privatbank has signed a contract for the purchase of three premium Apple smartphones of the latest models with a total value of UAH 145.6 thousand. The relevant data is available in the ProZorro system, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Glavkom.
The contract was signed in late January with Kharkiv-based Spetsvuzavtomatika. The company was the only participant in the procurement, which was conducted without the use of an electronic system.
Under the terms of the contract, the supplier is to deliver the phones to Kyiv by February 12, and the bank is to make payment within 14 calendar days after delivery.
“Spetsvuzavtomatika was founded by the American corporation Most Development back in 1992. The ultimate beneficiaries of the company are US citizen Eleanor Birkin and Ukrainians Oleg and Serhiy Gaiduk, Oleksandr Mayorsky and Zoya Frolova. The company is managed by Oleksandr Zolotarev. In 2024, the company has already received government orders worth almost UAH 138 million.

The bank ordered three black phone models with 128 GB of storage: iPhone 16 for UAH 44.8 thousand, iPhone 16 Pro for UAH 56.3 thousand, and iPhone 15 Plus for UAH 44.5 thousand. The market prices for these models are much lower.

the iPhone 16 Pro features a larger 6.3-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a more powerful A18 Pro processor, and a triple 48MP/12MP main camera. On the market, this model is available at a price ranging from 42,740 to 63,900 UAH.
the iPhone 15 Plus, which was released in 2023, has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, an A16 processor, and a dual 48 12 MP main camera. The market price of the device ranges from UAH 31,067 to 44,999.
