Russia struck the Kyiv region with an “Oreshnik”: a statement from the Ukrainian Air Force

On the night of May 24, Russian occupiers struck the Kyiv region with an RS-26 “Rubizh” (“Oreshnik”) medium-range ballistic missile. Yuriy Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, confirmed this information to RBC-Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, the Russians launched the missile from the Kapustin Yar test site. The “Oreshnik” struck in the Bila Tserkva area.
Massive strike on Kyiv and the region
As a reminder, on the night of May 24, the Ukrainian Air Force announced a threat of a “Oreshnik” medium-range ballistic missile strike.
Throughout the night, Russia attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region with ballistic missiles and strike drones.
Debris fell in several districts of the capital, causing destruction, injuries, and fatalities.
There are also reports of casualties and damage in the Kyiv region.
On the eve of the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, according to information from American and European partners, Russia was preparing to strike the country with an “Oreshnik” ballistic missile. He urged Ukrainians to heed the air raid alerts and take shelter.
