Russia issued an ultimatum to Ukraine at the UN for a “peaceful resolution” of the war

Russia is prepared to continue the war if Ukraine does not recognize the occupied territories and does not agree to Moscow’s demands. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Russia’s representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, Russia is prepared to continue hostilities if Kyiv does not acknowledge what Moscow calls “the realities on the ground” and does not agree to address the “root causes” of the war.
“Without recognition of the realities on the ground, there will be no peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. As long as Kyiv continues to cling to illusions, reject the choice of millions of people, and refuse to address the root causes of the crisis, Russia will consistently pursue its objectives in the special military operation by military means,” said Nebenzya.
The Russian diplomat also stated that Russia’s contacts with Western countries regarding Ukraine have practically ceased.
What Russia Demands for Peace
Nebenzia’s statements essentially reiterate the position Moscow has repeatedly articulated regarding potential negotiations with Ukraine. The Russian side declares its readiness for a diplomatic settlement but insists that it must take into account the so-called new territorial realities.
Moscow also asserts that any future agreements must take into account its security interests and the views of the population in the occupied territories.
At the same time, Ukraine does not agree with Russia’s demands. Kyiv insists on the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity and a return to the internationally recognized borders of 1991.
