The Kremlin has already criticized Trump’s peace initiatives

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he does not take seriously the words of US President-elect Donald Trump about his ability to end the war in Ukraine in one day. He made this statement during an interview with one of Russia’s propaganda channels, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Lavrov also called the proposals to end the war in Ukraine, which are being voiced by representatives of the US Republican Party, “only a new version of the Minsk agreements, and even worse.” He noted that the initiators of these proposals are actually in favor of a truce for a certain period of time and postponing the final decision for the future.

In addition, Lavrov expressed his indignation at the fact that, in his opinion, no one cares about the rights of Ukrainian citizens to use the Russian language – to speak, study and receive information in Russian.

The Kremlin spokesman also does not believe that Trump wants to distance himself from NATO and “European affairs.”

“Washington’s principled attitude to Ukrainian and European affairs will not change in the sense that the United States will always try to control everything that happens in the “near-NATO” and “NATO” space,”

– he said.

According to The Washington Post, after his victory, Trump spoke with Putin and advised him not to escalate the war in Ukraine. After that, Ukraine declared an air alert due to the takeoffs of Russian planes carrying cruise and ballistic missiles. However, as far as we know, the planes turned back without launching. MP Viktoriia Syumar believes that this was Putin’s signal to Trump.

“Translated into the language of politics, this means: I was planning to, I could have destroyed their energy, because I had been accumulating missiles for 2.5 months, but I did not because I heard the request. This is a clear signal from Putin to Trump – I want to continue the conversation. Without Ukraine, about Ukraine. But not only. About the new division of the world,”

Trump’s position on Ukraine

During the election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly said that he would stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of his election. That time has now passed.

Also during the election, the media spread the so-called “Trump Plan”. The plan was that the United States would use its influence to stop the war, taking into account the status quo. To do this, Trump would force Putin and Zelenskyy to sit down at the negotiating table. If Putin does not agree to negotiate, the United States will give Ukraine all the weapons it needs to win on the battlefield. If Zelenskyy refuses to negotiate, the United States will completely stop helping Ukraine.

This plan, in its various variations, stipulates that Russia retains the territories it temporarily occupies and that Ukraine does not join NATO.

However, later Trump seemed to “forget” about this plan. In particular, he voiced scenarios in which he would force Russia to capitulate due to the decline in world oil prices.

After Trump was elected President of the United States, one of his advisors, Brian Lanza, said that Ukraine should forget about Crimea. The president-elect’s entourage, however, was quick to deny this statement and said that Lanza could not speak for Trump.
