UNESCO has recognized Ukrainian kobzarism as the world’s intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This was reported by the We Are Ukraine news channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

At the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO, which took place in Paraguay on December 5, it was announced that the Ukrainian nomination “Program for the Protection of the Kobzar-Lirnytsia Tradition” was included in the Register of Best Practices for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

It is known that the cultural heritage was presented on stage by Taras Kompanichenko, a kobzar, soldier and People’s Artist of Ukraine.

Oles Sanin, a brother of the Kobzar workshop, lyre player, and film director, also commented on the event.

“For us, UNESCO’s recognition is, first of all, an opportunity to tell the whole world about Ukraine, about our indestructible song, culture, heritage, our struggle for our own state, our eternal desire for freedom. Because every duma is a glorification of the knightly Cossack order, every kobza psalm is a story about the power of faith and spirit,” Sanin said.

In early November, it became known that Ukraine submitted documents to UNESCO with a proposal to include kobzarism in the list of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage.
