Ukrainians ask to cancel payments of “thousands from Zelensky”: petition gains necessary votes
29 November 2024 14:06
A petition calling for the abolition or revision of the program to pay thousands of hryvnias to Ukrainians has received more than 25,000 votes. Now President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is obliged to consider it. The relevant information is published in the petitions section on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reports
The petition was published on November 14.
Its author noted that the winter program “e-Support” has a number of drawbacks. One of them is the lack of targeting.
“This is the most important point. After all, the purpose of this program is to support the population in winter, which is obviously necessary for a certain number of citizens. However, this is necessary only for a certain list of citizens: pensioners, low-income families, large families, internally displaced persons, etc. For a household with an average salary, these funds will not be so important,” the petition says.
As the author emphasizes, the Ministry of Economy reports that the funds received from Western partners, which cannot be used to finance defense needs, are planned to be used to implement this initiative.

This raises the question of the expediency and effectiveness of using these resources for mass payments to all citizens instead of targeting more urgent needs or supporting vulnerable categories of the population.
It is noted that one of the goals of the program is to support national business by stimulating consumer demand, as its decline is one of the key problems of the economy. The author of the petition believes that this cannot be a sufficient reason to implement the program in its current form.
The author asks the president to allocate funds to other government programs, such as eHouse.
“There are government programs that have run out of funding. For example, eOselya, which makes it possible to get housing at preferential loan rates. The end of funding shows the importance and demand for this program. Therefore, it would be advisable to allocate free funds to this and similar programs that have run out of funding,” the petition says.
The author of the petition appeals to the president to redirect these funds exclusively to people who really need them.
“Nevertheless, if the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine believe that in the current conditions the implementation of the program to distribute UAH 1,000 per citizen is more important and have finally decided to implement it, then based on the above, I ask you to direct the funds under this program to those who really need it,” the text says.
As a reminder, the government approved the presidential program to pay out Zelensky’s “thousand.” [
