– the statement reads.

The massive voluntary mobilisation movement is said to have spread to factories, construction sites and educational institutions, where young people are showing a “burning passion” for military service. According to the agency, more than 1.4 million people applied to join or return to the army on 14-15 October.

“If war happens, the Republic of Korea will be destroyed. It wants war, and we will gladly destroy it,”

– Pyongyang wrote.

War is traditionally proclaimed “sacred”.

“In all corners of this land… the passion of ardent young people to join the army, ready to bravely rise to the holy war for the destruction of enemies, firmly holding the weapons of revolution, is in full swing,”

The statement came the day after North Korea blew up roads leading to South Korea and four months after signing a “comprehensive strategic partnership” agreement with Russia. According to this agreement, each party undertakes to provide all possible military assistance to the other if it finds itself in a state of war. Up to 3,000 DPRK tro ops are expected to arrive at the Ukrainian front in the near future.

The Korean People’s Army (KPA) is the armed forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. It is composed of the Army, Air Force, Air and Air Defense Forces, Navy, and the Strategic Missile Force, which was added in 2012. The total number of active duty personnel ranges from 850,000 to 1.2 million, with an additional reserve of about 4 million.
