Prices for white cabbage are falling in Ukraine

This week, there is a downward trend in prices for white cabbage in Ukraine.
This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Producers attribute this price situation to an oversupply of products on the market, with a significant portion of the supply being medium-late cabbage, which is not suitable for storage.
At the moment, prices for white cabbage are announced by producers in the range of 5 to 10 UAH/kg ($0.12-0.24/kg), which is on average 16% cheaper than at the end of last week.
According to the project analysts, most farms are still actively harvesting, which is why the supply on the market is growing. At the same time, demand for these products remains extremely low. Wholesale companies and retail chains are ready to purchase only small quantities, citing a very limited shelf life, as most farmers offer low-quality cabbage for sale.
It is worth noting that as of today, prices for white cabbage in Ukraine are already 66% lower on average than in the same period last year. However, market participants do not rule out that the price of this product will continue to decline, as many farms are actively harvesting due to improved weather conditions. As a result, a gradual increase in the supply of cabbage to the market will force farmers to continue to give up the price if the situation with the pace of sales does not change.
