The Cabinet of Ministers has submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada to introduce the concept of an eco-industrial park. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“This will be an innovative format of industrial sites where businesses will use alternative energy sources, rationally approach waste management and optimize the use of water resources,” he said.

Shmyhal added that the government will provide support in the form of tax benefits and financing for the construction of engineering and transport infrastructure.

According to the government’s permanent representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Functioning of Industrial Parks and Introducing the Model of an Eco-Industrial Park in Ukraine” was also approved.

It proposes to clarify the requirements for documents, procedures, rights and obligations, as well as the relations of industrial parks’ entities in the process of their creation and operation.

An eco-industrial park is a community of enterprises located on a common territory that seek to improve the economic, environmental and social performance of their activities through cooperation in resource management and addressing a number of environmental issues.
