Albania opens its first embassy in Ukraine. The candidate for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania, Hernal Filo, was presented during a hearing at the Foreign Policy Commission, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Deputy Foreign Minister Artemis Malo introduced the candidate. She noted that Philo has many years of experience in foreign policy and has actively supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty during the conflict with Russia.
The diplomat added that this opening of a diplomatic mission in Ukraine is the first of its kind.
Hernal Filo noted that Albania attaches great importance to supporting Ukraine, which is fighting for its sovereignty in difficult times. According to him, the representative office of the Republic of Albania in Kyiv aims to strengthen friendly relations between the countries and develop cooperation in various fields, including the economic one. In addition, Albania supports President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plan to end the war and restore peace in Ukraine.
“Diplomatic relations with Ukraine date back to 1993. That is more than 30 years when political relations are considered good and friendly, with a common interest in their further development. I think the situation in the future can be favourable for us. And here I am referring to the commitments we can offer together with other countries in the region where our companies can benefit from the recovery funds,” said Hernal Filo.
In addition, after the end of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, Albania plans to support our country in rebuilding the destroyed cities. The newly established Embassy of the Republic of Albania plans to develop ties and hold high-level visits between the two countries after the war is over. In this way, the two countries want to get closer and develop the potential for cooperation.
It should be noted that Albania currently has diplomatic missions in 43 countries and 6 international organisations.
