On Wednesday, July 10, all medical institutions in Ukraine will hold a minute of silence in memory of the medical workers who died as a result of Russian aggression. As of today, at least 510 medical professionals – doctors, nurses, paramedics and other specialists – have been documented dead.

This was announced byHealth Minister Viktor Liashko during a meeting of the Honorable Council of the Order of St. Panteleimon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“At 14:00 Kyiv time, all health care facilities will hear the sound of a heartbeat that slows down and stops, followed by a minute of silence. This is an opportunity for every doctor to remember a colleague who died for Ukraine,” said Lyashko.

The exception will be operating and critical units that cannot suspend work even for a minute.

Also, personalized memorial plaques will be installed in the hospitals where the fallen doctors worked or studied. The Ministry of Health will develop a unified model of such plaques in cooperation with the Honorable Council of the Order of St. Panteleimon.

In addition, it is planned to create a Book of Remembrance and a memorial installation with photos of the deceased in the Museum of Medicine or the National Library of the Ministry of Health. This initiative was also supported by the Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care, the coordinator of the Order.

“The Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Doctors is an extremely important date for the country,” emphasized Lyashko.

As part of the all-Ukrainian initiative “Light of Memory”, separate events will be held in each region with the participation of the families of the victims.

on July 28, 2024, on the Day of the Medical Worker, the Order of St. Panteleimon was awarded to the best representatives of the medical industry in Kyiv.
