Defence Ministry: 17-year-old men must return from abroad and register for military service

The requirement for military registration for 17-year-old men also applies to those who are abroad. And it can only be fulfilled by personally arriving at a military registration and enlistment centre in Ukraine. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Dmytro Lazutkin, during a telethon, reports [Kommersant]
“Young men who have turned 17 must be registered for military service. This is a requirement and it also applies to those who are abroad. If these people will retain Ukrainian citizenship and link their future with our country, then it is obviously worth doing,” he said,
– he said.
When the journalist asked if this procedure could not be completed using the Reserve app, the spokesperson replied in the negative.
“You need to register with the CCP and the JV”,
– he said.
Meanwhile, it turned out that men with residence permits in other countries will not be able to leave Ukraine.
on 18 May, an updated law on mobilisation came into force. All men aged 18-60 have 60 days – until 16 July inclusive – to update their registration details. The Ministry of Defence launched the mobile application ‘Reserve’ for people liable for military service.
