The government is allocating an additional UAH 3 billion from the state budget reserve fund for the repair of national highways. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, the funds will be directed primarily to roads of international and national importance.
“The funds will be directed primarily to roads of international and national importance – key logistics routes, highways with heavy traffic, as well as roads that play an important role in evacuating and supplying frontline regions.”
Kuleba noted that road crews are currently repairing an average of 40,000 m² of damaged pavement every day. More than 1,100 workers in 140 repair crews are working on roads of national importance.
“We are gradually increasing the intensity of the work. The volume of repairs should reach 100-150 thousand m² per day. The next stage is the transition to large-scale repairs in ‘maps’, which will ensure a more durable road surface,” he said.
According to the minister, the largest amount of work is being carried out on international roads such as:
▪M-05 Kyiv – Odesa
▪M-06 Kyiv – Chop
▪M-14 Odesa – Melitopol
▪M-19 Domaneve – Kovel – Chernivtsi – Terebleche (to Bucharest)
▪M-21 Vystupovychi – Zhytomyr – Mohyliv-Podilskyi
▪M-28 Odesa – Yuzhne – /M-14/ etc.
Since the beginning of the year, almost 220,000 m² of road damage has been repaired, Kuleba added.
Earlier, the Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development drew up reports for the restoration of 80 roads under warranty obligations after a difficult winter.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that as of March 5, road repairs in Ukraine would require UAH 52 billion.
