4 regions without electricity: Russian strikes hit Ukraine’s power grid again
5 December 10:40
After another wave of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, some consumers in four regions of Ukraine were again left without electricity. At the same time, the country has introduced hourly outage schedules and restrictions for businesses to stabilize the power system amid growing load. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
What regions were left without electricity due to shelling
According to the Ministry of Energy, as a result of the night and morning attacks of the occupiers, consumers in four regions remain without electricity:
- Vinnytsia region
- Dnipropetrovs’k region
- Donetsk region
- Odesa region.
The damage was caused to power facilities that have been systematically attacked by Russians since the beginning of the fall. In the affected areas, power engineers are working in an intensive mode, carrying out emergency repair work, and some networks have to be reconnected manually.
Why hourly outage schedules are being introduced
Today, on December 5, hourly outage schedules are in effect in all regions of Ukraine – from 00:00 to 23:59. This is a necessary step to balance the power system, which is suffering from:
- damage to substations and power lines
- high consumption during peak hours
- limited generation, especially thermal and hydro
In addition, power limitation schedules are applied to industrial enterprises and businesses. This helps to reduce the load on the grid when the power system is operating at its limit.
Where to find the latest schedules
Each distribution system operator (oblenergo) publishes information about outages on its
- on official websites
- in Telegram channels
- in mobile applications, if available
The Ministry of Energy reminds that the schedules can be updated throughout the day, especially in case of new damages or sudden changes in consumption.
How to help the power system work more stably
The Ministry urges Ukrainians to use electricity rationally throughout the day, especially during peak periods:
- from 07:00 to 10:00
- from 17:00 to 21:00
Reducing consumption during these hours avoids critical loads and reduces the risk of emergency outages.
Where to find your outage schedule
“Ukrenergo encourages Ukrainians to follow the updates on the official pages of the regional power distribution companies in their region. They publish current schedules and changes in outages.
