5 men tried to cross the border under the guise of Red Cross workers

In Transcarpathia, border guards found five Ukrainian citizens who wanted to cross the border using forged documents of the Red Cross charity. This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
The men were stopped at a checkpoint near the border with Romania. Two residents of Donetsk region and three people from Kyiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions said they were going to the Dyakove checkpoint to cross the border with Romania. The men presented volunteer certificates and said that they were going to receive humanitarian aid.
However, when the border guards checked their documents, they found that the certificates were forged.

All five men were notified of suspicion of committing offences under Article 27(5), Article 358(1), Article 358(4) (use of a knowingly forged document) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Article 445 (illegal use of Red Cross symbols, except as provided for in this Code) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The case file was sent to court. The defendants face a fine and up to two years’ imprisonment.
