the 75th Berlinale awarded gold, silver and crystal bears to the winners

The winners of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, which annually brings together independent film creators, have been announced. The full list of those who received the festival’s gold, silver and crystal prizes is available on the Berlinale website, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

“The festival’s Golden Bear went to Dreams by Norwegian director Dag Johan Heugerud. “Dreams is the final film in a trilogy about the nature of love, human relationships, sexuality and social norms (the previous films are Sex and Love). In the story, a girl falls in love with a French teacher.

The Jury Grand Prix went to The Blue Trail by Gabriel Mascaro.

“The Silver Bear for Best Director was awarded to Chinese director Meng Ho for his film Life on Earth.

“The Silver Bear for Best Screenplay went to Radu Jude (Continental 25).

The award for Best Actress went to Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You),

Andrew Scott (Blue Moon) was recognized as the best supporting actor.

As a reminder, on Thursday, February 20, the 75th Berlin International Film Festival premiered the documentary “Time Tape” by Ukrainian director Kateryna Hornostai in the main competition.

This is a documentary about teachers and students who continue to teach and study during the war, in particular in the de-occupied and frontline territories. The director shows how living under constant threat affects the daily lives of students and teachers.

The proceeds from the international screening campaign will be used to rebuild schools destroyed by the war. This is the first time in 25 years that a Ukrainian film has been selected to participate in the main competition program of the festival. In total, more than 200 films were screened as part of the festival’s various programs.
