83% of Ukrainians won’t buy on Black Friday: they don’t believe in discounts

This year, most Ukrainians will not participate in the global Black Friday shopping frenzy . According to a survey by Rakuten Viber, 83% of respondents said they did not plan to make purchases during this period. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Finance.ua.
The key reason for Ukrainians’ skepticism about Black Friday is distrust of discounts. Thus, 64% of respondents said they never buy on this day because they consider discounts to be false.
Another 19% do not plan to spend money on sales this year. Only 4% of respondents admitted that they intend to buy more than last year, and 6% – less.

For those who do plan to take advantage of the discounts, the following goods remain a priority:
- Clothing and footwear – 34%
- Food and alcohol – 13%
- Gadgets – 12%
- Home appliances – 9%
- Products for children – 9%
- Cosmetics, care products and vitamins – 9%
- Goods for pets – 6%
- Goods for home improvement and repair – 5%
- Goods for cars – 2%
- Subscriptions to services and subscriptions – 1%

Ukrainians and Black Friday: changes in habits
Black Friday, which is traditionally celebrated in late November, remains popular in many countries around the world, attracting millions of shoppers. However, in Ukraine, attitudes toward this event are changing. Growing distrust of the reality of discounts and economic prudence are forcing Ukrainians to reconsider their consumption habits.
This year’s survey showed that only a small part of consumers is ready to actively participate in sales, while the majority is critical of this day.

In 2024, Black Friday will take place on November 29, but from the beginning of the month, you should pay attention to special offers from stores and online resources. Many discounts and promotions can be found in online stores, making it convenient to shop at home.
“Black Friday covers a wide range of goods, including:
- Electronics: TVs, smartphones, laptops, tablets.
- Clothing and footwear: discounts on previous seasons’ collections from well-known brands.
- Home appliances: refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners.
- Cosmetics and perfumes: promotions on popular brands and products.
- Home decor and furniture: discounts on interior items and furniture.
