Ukrainian intelligence has identified a Russian military officer involved in the preparation of a massive rocket attack on July 8, 2024, during which the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital was damaged. This was reported to Ukrinform by a source in military intelligence, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the information received, the organization of technical training of X-101 cruise missiles for the strike was carried out by Major Denis Alekseevich Sheynov, who heads the Special Engineering Service of the 121st Heavy Bomber Regiment of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division.
Biography of the killer
The source provided detailed information about the suspect’s identity. Born on January 30, 1978 in Saratov, Sheynov is a 2000 graduate of the Saratov Higher Military Engineering Command School of Missile Forces. In 2018, the Russian officer took part in military operations in Syria.
Among the major’s awards are the medal “For Military Valor” of the second degree (2000), the medal “For Distinction in Military Service” of the first degree (2015) and the medal “Participant in the Military Operation in Syria” (2019).
The intelligence also reported that Sheynov is married to Olena Shabalova, has two children and lives in Saratov at 12 Batavina Street, apartment 266.
Rocket attack on Kyiv on July 8
On the morning of July 8, Russian troops attacked Kyiv. Damage was recorded in 7 districts of the city – Solomianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Desnianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Holosiivskyi.
In particular, the Russians hit the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital. One of the Russian missiles hit the intensive and efferent therapy department for chronic intoxication at the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt”, damaging 5 buildings.
Two people died there, including doctor Svitlana Lukyanchuk. the 30-year-old from Lviv worked there as a pediatric nephrologist.
Also, a Russian strike on the private ADONIS clinic in the Dnipro district of Kyiv killed seven people.
It has been established that the attack on Okhmatdyt was carried out by an X-101 strategic cruise missile.
The number of people killed in the missile attack on Kyiv is 31, including 4 children.
