In an interview for the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel, lawyer and attorney Rostyslav Kravets said that he expects international negotiations to intensify to end the Russian-Ukrainian war in the near future. According to him, the process may accelerate due to economic factors and the interests of the parties involved in the war.
Kravets suggested that the first realistic signals regarding the prospects for peace talks may appear in the coming weeks:
“I think that very, very soon… maybe a week or two, and we will hear specific deadlines.”
According to him, some international actors are interested in ending the war because of economic risks and loss of benefits:
“A lot of questions are related to the economic aspects of this war… everyone is trying to make money on it. And this began to interfere with those who are behind it.”
On the Kremlin’s intentions and the West’s misunderstanding
Kravets emphasized that Russia’s position is different because, according to him, its leadership does not take into account economic logic:
“For him, the economy does not matter at all. It has imperial interests – to capture Ukraine.”

Kravets reminded that this week marks the anniversary of the signing of the Budapest Memorandum and questioned the effectiveness of new international security guarantees discussed by Ukraine’s Western partners:
“They tell us again that they will guarantee it. I have a proposal: demonstrate how it will be… show everyone what real guarantees look like.”
The lawyer noted that Ukraine has already been promised security in exchange for nuclear disarmament once, but these guarantees did not work.
