Airports in the UAE and Qatar have temporarily suspended operations: what tourists need to know
28 February 22:01
Due to the situation in the Middle East, airports in a number of key aviation hubs have been temporarily closed. These include airports in Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, and the Al Maktoum area in Dubai (Al Maktoum International Airport). Airspace is closed until at least 11 p.m., and all flights have been canceled.
The owner of the TABU TOUR travel agency, Maxim Tsirkel, reported on the situation on social media, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him:
“Airports: Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, Al Maktoum have completely stopped operating. Airspace is closed until at least 11 p.m.! All flights are canceled.”
He also drew attention to a technical feature that could mislead passengers. Due to the large number of cancellations, airlines are physically unable to quickly update flight statuses in their systems.
“Airlines are unable to update cancellations in time, which is why you may see in your accounts and apps that the flight is scheduled. This is not the case!”
Tourists are advised not to go to airports
Representatives of the tourism industry emphasize that due to the complete closure of airspace, it is not worth going to the airport even if the flight is marked as scheduled in the mobile app.
“Please do not even try to go to the airport. We are handling every ticket for our customers and will rebook you on the nearest flights after the airports resume operations.”
The company assures that it is working with each request individually and is trying to find alternative flight options as soon as the situation stabilizes.
As a reminder, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates have closed their airspace following reports of explosions in the region. Airlines are canceling flights.
Strike on Iran
It should be noted that today, February 28, Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran to eliminate security threats.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the introduction of a “state of emergency throughout the country.” According to him, a preemptive strike on Iran was necessary to neutralize existing threats to the state of Israel.
It is known that the attack on Iran is a joint operation by Israel and the United States.
US President Donald Trump said that the United States had launched a military campaign in Iran to eliminate threats from the current regime. The main goal of the operation is to protect the American people and allies.
In response, Iran fired missiles at Israel and a number of other countries.
