Alcohol while losing weight: you can, but wisely – expert advice

Many people who are on a diet or actively working on weight loss worry about whether they can afford a glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage. In an interview with the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel, fitness trainer Artem Doruchenko explained how alcohol affects the body during a diet.

According to Doruchenko, the main danger of alcohol is not in the drink itself. It’s in the food people consume during a feast.

“What do people do while drinking? They eat delicious food – nuts, chips. It’s hard to control what you eat when you’re drunk. But it’s usually not healthy food,” explains Doruchenko.

Such snacks often contain a lot of salt, fat, and calories. They can undermine the results of a diet, cause fluid retention, and put additional stress on the body.

What to eat during a feast to avoid harming yourself

The fitness trainer emphasizes that if you can’t avoid alcohol, it’s important to choose the right food.

“I don’t advocate drinking alcohol. But if you do have a feast, I advise you to eat protein food, not high-calorie food. Chicken jerkies, dried fish, etc.,” explains Doruchenko.

Water is the main ally at a party.

“And drink a lot of water to flush out toxins faster. Then you will be in a normal state in the morning,” he advised,” the fitness trainer advised.
