How Ukrzaliznytsia changed train traffic

Due to the damage to the railroad junction, Ukrzaliznytsia has begun rerouting trains that were supposed to pass through Fastiv. The company reports that

  • trains continue to run, but on changed routes;
  • dispatchers are working on new logistics schemes;
  • additional transfers are being organized to minimize inconvenience;
  • delays are still under control, but the situation may change.

Why routes may change hourly

Due to the difficult situation in the affected area, Ukrzaliznytsia warns that train schedules, routes and arrival times may be updated in real time.

Passengers are urged to

  • follow announcements at train stations;
  • listen to information from conductors in the cars;
  • monitor the official UZ channel on Telegram.

This will help avoid missing a transfer or unexpected changes in the train’s route.

Why Fastiv is a critical point for the railroad

Fastiv is one of the key transportation hubs in central Ukraine. A significant portion of passenger and freight routes in Kyiv region and destinations to the West of Ukraine pass through it.

Damage to the infrastructure in the area has an immediate impact on overall train traffic, which is exactly what happened after the nighttime strike.
