The Russian Federation’s attack has affected the work of Ukrzaliznytsia: a number of trains are changing their routes

As a result of a massive enemy attack last night, as well as damage to railway infrastructure, a number of Ukrzaliznytsia trains in some regions are forced to change their routes.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Specifically, routes will be changed in Rivne, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions. This means delays, which can be tracked on uz-vezemo.

“Reserve locomotives have already been deployed to all de-energized sections. Inspection and repair of the infrastructure has also begun,” Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

The carrier also reports that its monitoring teams have managed to protect dozens of passenger trains from more than a hundred drones and missiles.

“We apologize for the forced stops and several night evacuations—the worst was avoided thanks to the coordinated work of railway workers and the skill of the Defense Forces,” the press service added.

As is well known, UZ is a loss-making carrier for a number of reasons. As reported, due to the decline in its freight base, Ukrzaliznytsia can no longer cover the losses of the passenger segment through freight transportation, which creates the risk of an operational gap between income and expenses.

Experts have estimated the carrier’s losses at UAH 24 billion. In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers recently decided to allocate UAH 16 billion from the state budget reserve fund to cover losses from domestic passenger transportation in 2026.
