РОЗБІР ВІД According to the latest legislative changes, excise rates in Ukraine will be regularly increased until 2028, causing significant consequences for the economy and society. This was stated by energy expert Volodymyr Omelchenko, commenting on "Komersant Ukrainian" the excise tax increase of almost 5 times at this stage.
“The new excise rates have made autogas economically unprofitable, as its price is now 60% of the cost of petrol, which is significantly different from the usual 50% proportion that made this fuel affordable for the general population. This is a real blow to low-income citizens and industry. Transport companies, minibuses and other carriers that rely on autogas will also find themselves in a difficult position,” the expert explained.
He noted that the new excise taxes create an additional financial burden on these businesses, which may lead to, among other things, higher fares.
Earlier, we wrote that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had signed amendments to the Tax Code to to increase excise taxes on fuel.
According to the draft law, starting from 1 September, the excise tax will increase
- three times, to €165/1000 litres of autogas.
- by 14%, to €242.6/1000 litres of petrol;
- by 27%, to €177.6/1000 litres of diesel fuel.
Thus, the price of autogas will rise by an average of UAH 5-6. But despite this, according to according to energy expert Sergiy Kuyun, it will be more profitable to use than other fuels.
“This will allow us to continue installing gas cylinder equipment on cars. Yes, the savings will not be the same as before, but they will still be significant,” Kuyun predicted.
