“The ground is shaking”: Border guards have released footage of the “Pomsta” Brigade’s artillery unit in action in the Kharkiv region
6 April 21:33
Border guards have released footage of combat operations by an artillery crew from the “Unit-A” unit of the “Pomsta” border brigade, which carried out fire missions in the Kharkiv region in 2024, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The video captures the work of the artillerymen as they strike enemy positions and personnel. The soldiers operate from a prepared shelter, performing the full cycle of loading and firing.
The crew’s primary weapon is the 100-mm KS-19 gun. Although this gun was originally designed as an anti-aircraft weapon, it is actively used to engage ground targets. Military personnel note that it has a high rate of fire and significant shell destructive power, allowing for the effective destruction of enemy shelters and fortifications.
The released footage shows the coordinated work of the artillery crew: after a shot, the barrel recoils, the shell casing is ejected, a new round is loaded, and preparations are made for the next shot. All of the soldiers’ actions are performed automatically, allowing them to deliver intense artillery fire even in difficult weather conditions.
The unit notes that artillery fire from the KS-19 gun is a crucial element of fire support for infantry, as it enables the destruction of enemy fortifications, the suppression of enemy firing positions, and the disruption of offensive operations.
The published footage was filmed during the unit’s combat operations in the Kharkiv sector in 2024.
What is known about the Luhansk Border Guard Brigade “Pomsta”
“Pomsta,” the 3rd Border Guard Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikus ( Luhansk Border Guard Detachment-Brigade “Pomsta,” military unit 9938), is a combat unit within the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Until February 24, 2022, it was responsible for securing the state border with the Russian Federation, which borders the Luhansk region and the temporarily occupied territories.
On March 3, the “Pomsta” Brigade was placed under the command of former Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Deineko.
It was noted that the former head of the State Border Guard Service was appointed to the position in the combat brigade due to his prior military experience in defending the country and overseeing the execution of tasks by border guard units.
In addition, Deineko had previously served as commander of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment from July 2011 to August 2014.
