American businessman and philanthropist Howard Buffett visited the frontline territories of Kharkiv region, where he took part in the evacuation of civilians from the suburbs of Kupyansk together with the White Angel police special forces. The trip was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Evacuation under fire

During the visit, Buffett saw with his own eyes the extreme conditions in which Ukrainian law enforcement officers work. His charitable foundation had previously donated armored vehicles to the unit, which are now a key tool for rescuing people.

It is thanks to this equipment that the police have already managed to evacuate more than 200 civilians from dangerous communities in Kharkiv region.

The armored vehicles allow them to work directly in the area of active hostilities, significantly reducing the risks for crews and passengers. The vehicles are protected from shrapnel and small arms fire, which is critical during constant attacks.

Communicating with people and being recognized by the police

During the trip, the philanthropist talked to local residents who were waiting for evacuation and personally inspected the transferred equipment.

In gratitude for his systematic assistance and contribution to saving lives, the police presented Howard Buffett with a chevron of the White Angel special forces as a symbol of partnership and a joint humanitarian mission.

Not the first project to support Ukraine

This is not Howard Buffett’s first visit to Ukraine and not the only initiative he is funding. Recently, the philanthropist supported the restoration of the LokoChoko stadium in Kyiv, which was destroyed by a Russian strike. He personally attended the opening of the facility, talked to veterans, and tested the infrastructure for their rehabilitation.

The philanthropist has consistently supported projects of barrier-free access, rehabilitation of the military and development of modern infrastructure. His regular trips to the frontline regions demonstrate the deep involvement of the American private sector in helping Ukraine during the war.
