1 November 20:11

The European digital bank Revolut has started blocking accounts of Russians without a residence permit in the European Union as part of compliance with Western sanctions.

This was reported by the bank’s press service in a commentary to Russian propaganda media, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Revolut must comply with the sanctions laws and regulations of the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and other applicable laws and regulations in all jurisdictions in which Revolut operates,” the organization’s representatives said.

It is noted that on November 1, the bank sent two notices to its customers: the first one asked for a copy of the residence permit, and the second one informed them of the account closure in the absence of the relevant document.

on October 23, the EU officially approved a new, 19th package of sanctions against Russia. The new package includes restrictions against Russian banks and cryptocurrency transactions. It also included restrictions on more than 100 foreign-flagged tankers carrying Russian oil.

In addition, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, confirmed the introduction of restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats in the EU.
