BankID will become a paid service: what we know

21 March 14:19

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will introduce fees for BankID services starting June 24, 2026; these services have been free for users since the start of the full-scale invasion.

This was announced by Olga Vasilyeva, deputy director of the regulator’s Department of Payment Systems and Innovative Development, according to Interfax-Ukraine, as reported by [Komersant].

New fees and connection terms

According to the NBU’s decision, joining the system will cost 21,600 UAH for an identifier subscriber and 16,800 UAH for a service provider subscriber. Connecting an additional node or portal will cost participants 12,000 UAH.

A transaction fee of 30 kopecks is also being introduced for processing a single successful electronic confirmed identifier (ECI).

At the same time, the National Bank has decided not to introduce a monthly maintenance fee for now, and the inter-subscriber fee has been halved. Depending on the volume of data transmitted, it amounts to 2 UAH, 4 UAH, 7 UAH, or 9 UAH per transaction.

Currently, the system includes 38 identifier banks serving 99.9% of the retail customer base in Ukraine’s banking system, as well as 112 service provider subscribers.

The National Bank is expanding the range of system identifiers, allowing not only banks but also payment institutions to assume this role.

Vasylieva added that NovaPay (NovaPay LLC) has already submitted a corresponding application and, if approved, will be able to provide customers with access to government and commercial services through the system.
