In an interview with the Bild newspaper, the chair of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and former German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock did not rule out the possibility of deploying UN peacekeepers in Ukraine after peace talks, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to her, such peacekeeping missions are needed not only on the European continent. She emphasized that if a peace agreement is reached, it should be protected as much as possible.

“And if the majority of member states say that this will also require ‘blue helmets’, then we hope this can ensure a lasting peace,” Burbock added.

The new head of the GA noted that peace talks must first take place.
