No greetings or joint photos: Ukrainian athletes will have a protocol of behaviour with Russians at the Olympics

The National Olympic Committee is developing a protocol for the behaviour of Ukrainian athletes with athletes from Russia at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The president of the NOC, Vadym Hutzayt, said this during a telethon, Komersant ukrainskyi citing Interfax-Ukraine.
“These will be general recommendations. We can see what happened at the World Championships when Olga Harlan did not shake hands,”
– gutzeit explained.
According to him, the recommendations include: not to greet Russian athletes, not to stand with them in joint photos, not to give joint interviews, not to shake hands.
“The National Olympic Committee has such a protocol, there are already these recommendations, but they have not yet been approved, as we have to discuss these recommendations with the NOC Athletes’ Commission. We will now resolve the last issues and it will be approved,”
– added the President of the NOC of Ukraine.
Vadym Gutzeit noted that the Ukrainian side is also working on these issues with international federations so that there are no questions to Ukrainian athletes later.
