Drones attacked an oil depot in the Tambov region of Russia: what are the consequences?

On the night of December 3, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot in the Tambov region, said the region’s governor, Yevgeny Pervishchev. According to him, a fire broke out at the facility due to falling debris.

“Fire brigades and law enforcement officials promptly arrived at the scene. All necessary forces and means have been deployed,” he said.

The governor did not specify whether there were any casualties as a result of the attack, nor did he name which oil depot was attacked, [Komersant ] reports, citing Russian propaganda media.

According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilnova, the Nikiforovskaya oil depot in the village of Dmitrovka, which is located about 45 km from Tambov, was attacked. The base has 14 tanks with a total volume of 10,440 cubic meters. They store diesel fuel. The facility is owned by Rosneft and until recently was part of Tambovnefteprodukt, which was the largest supplier of fuels and lubricants in the region. Also on the night of December 3, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot in the Voronezh region, according to the head of the region, Alexander Gusev.

“Several fuel tanks were slightly damaged as a result of the downed UAV. There was no fire,” the governor said.

He added that there were no casualties. Gusev did not specify which oil depot was attacked.

The day before, on December 2, Ukrainian drones attacked a Rosneft oil depot in the town of Livny, Oryol region, about 140 km southeast of Oryol. A fire broke out in two fuel tanks.
