On the night of 9 January, drones hit three Russian oil refineries. Two of them, the Ilya and Afip refineries, are in the Kuban, and the other is in the Oryol region. The relevant information appeared in some Telegram channels and media, according to

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources, the Ilyichevsk and Afipsk refineries were hit by SBU drones.

“According to the sources, a large fire broke out at the Ilyichevsk refinery, and the primary processing unit with a capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per year was hit. Without it, the enemy will not be able to produce diesel fuel for military purposes. The price of such a unit is about $50 million,”

– the statement said.

The consequences of the strike on the Afip plant are currently being clarified.

The facilities are located about 20 km apart. Local media reports that the Russians even sent planes into the sky, but this did not help protect the refinery.

In the Oryol region, according to Russian Telegram channels, a drone exploded on the territory of the refinery, but there was allegedly no damage to the technological facilities. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by the Ukrainian side.

In total, 7 refineries in Russia have been attacked by drones since the beginning of the year. Some Russian media report that this has already caused problems with the export of petroleum products. In particular, in January, exports of petrol fell by 37% and diesel by 23%. The Russian Ministry of Energy explained this, among other things, by “unscheduled repairs” at refineries.

The map of Russian refineries looks like this:

Most of them are located in the European part of Russia, where drones, both Ukrainian and of “unknown origin”, have recently been easily accessible.
