on 11 March, Belarus launched the largest inspection of the army’s combat readiness in recent years. This was reported by the monitoring project Belaruski Gayun, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
Officially, this inspection is a response to the exercises conducted by NATO countries. As part of it, 6,000 reservists have been involved and are beginning combat training.
“The main event of March in the Armed Forces of Belarus was the combat readiness inspection. As part of the inspection, the mobilisation deployment of two brigades – a mechanised brigade and an anti-aircraft missile brigade – was practised. In terms of the scale and number of reservists called up, this is the largest test in recent years,”
– reads the project’s report for March.

However, according to analysts, the level of presence of the Russian Armed Forces in March did not change – there may be about 2,000 Russian military in Belarus. The activity of these units remains very low. In addition, mercenaries of the Wagner PMC are still deployed in Belarus, continuing to train the Lukashenko regime’s security forces. Their number may be in the hundreds.
Analysts’ overall medium-term outlook for the military situation in Belarus remains unchanged:
“Currently, there is no reason to expect an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces from the territory of Belarus, as well as an increase in their military presence. Involvement of the armed forces of Belarus in hostilities against Ukraine is unlikely. The Wagner PMC as a destabilising factor no longer exists”.
