In August 2024, the number of unemployed Ukrainians crossed the 100,000 mark. And this is only those registered with the State Employment Service. The agency reported this specifically at the request of "Komersant Ukrainian".
“As of 5 August 2024, the number of unemployed registered with the State Employment Service was 105.8 thousand people,” said Yulia Zhovtyak, director of the State Employment Centre.
At the same time, according to the agency, in July 2024, 19.6 thousand people were employed with the assistance of the State Employment Service.
Moreover, there is a gradual increase in employers’ demand for labour in Ukraine.
“Thus, as of 05.08.2024, there were 248 thousand vacancies on the Single Job Portal of the State Employment Service (jobportal.dcz.gov.ua), which contains information from leading job search sites (work.ua, robota.ua, novarobota.ua, pidbir.com, grc.ua, ua.jooble.org), which is 18% more than on the corresponding date last year,” Zhovtyak said.
It is known that at least 5 million people have lost their jobs in just one year of the full-scale invasion. And the fighting continues where 10 million workers were employed.
