Running with a radio in hand: officer explains Russia’s new tactic of “meat plus intelligence”
1 September 19:31
Ukraine is once again facing the threat of a large-scale Russian offensive. The intensity of fighting in the Donetsk sector is increasing every day, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces command confirms a significant accumulation of enemy forces. At the same time, the military and volunteers warn that the offensive may begin soon. The biggest risks are centered around Pokrovsk. It is here that, according to the Ukrainian leadership, the Russian army has amassed up to 100,000 troops. Experts and the military emphasize that the enemy is combining the tactics of “meat assaults” with reconnaissance by combat, trying to identify weaknesses in our defense.
What tactics does the enemy use and why can even chaotic “meat assaults” be part of a larger plan? What the Ukrainian military say about the Russians’ preparations – in the article
Russia may launch a large-scale offensive in the coming days. This was warned by volunteer and veteran Maria Berlinska, who called on Ukrainians to remain calm and help the frontline as much as possible.
There is information that the Russians will launch a serious offensive in the coming days. What does this mean for us? The same as always – to stay calm and help the frontline even more in the coming weeks. Especially in the Donetsk sector. We need to send everything we can and more,” said Maria Berlinska.
She also emphasized the importance of information warfare. She asked to write on social media about what is happening, to communicate with Western journalists, to tell human stories about what the war has done.
The West must understand: Putin will only stop where we stop him together. If Ukraine falls, they are next,” Berlinska says.
Large-scale attacks at the front
Since the beginning of the day, the Russians have made 25 attempts to storm the Ukrainian Defense Forces inthe Pokrovsk sector. The Russians tried to break through in the areas of Zapovidne, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Zvirove, Udachne and Dachne, towards Promin, Myrnohrad, Rodynske and Pokrovsk. The defense is holding back the attack: 22 enemy attacks have already been stopped.
Following the report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Russian army is concentrating its greatest efforts in the Donetsk sector, particularly near Pokrovsk. The occupiers also suffer the greatest losses there.
The Pokrovsk direction is the most serious today. There are up to 100,000 troops amassed there, which is what they have in the morning. They are preparing offensive actions in any case. It is important that we know and control this, – Volodymyr Zelenskyy
What do the military say?
Russian troops may be preparing for a new large-scale offensive. About this in an exclusive commentary
According to him, what Ukrainians have seen in recent months, when the occupiers sent dozens and sometimes hundreds of soldiers into battle every day, was not only intended to “fill the front with manpower.”
It happens often: he runs, and he is holding a radio station or batteries. And maybe they told him: the main thing is to deliver it. That is, in addition to the accumulation of people, this is also a logistical issue,” explained officer Tikhiy.
According to the military, this tactic was used by the Russians to simultaneously reconnoiter Ukrainian firing points and aerial reconnaissance positions:
- launch sites for FPV drones and kamikaze drones,
- the work of “Mavic” on the front line,
- main and reserve positions of Ukrainian units.
This is a very important thing on the front line. Therefore, such breakthroughs are possible. But how deep they will go depends on the terrain and roads along which they can take place,” noted Yevhen “Tykhyi”.

Thus, the Russian army is trying to combine “meat assaults” with reconnaissance by combat to study the weaknesses of the defense and prepare the basis for larger-scale operations.

His observations were made public by soldier Stanislav Bunyatov on the Telegram channel “Sniper Speaks.”
“In the direction of Myrnohrad, the Russians continue to send equipment in one direction. Either they are completely fools who want to go on rotation as soon as possible (which is unlikely), or their command is probing the direction for a larger-scale offensive. We see that a lot of effort is spent not on equipment, but on chaotically scattered disposables, – Stanislav Bunyatov
Despite the threat, the Ukrainian military is holding back the enemy and inflicting significant losses. Experts are unanimous: the key now is not to panic, but to strengthen support for the army and the information front. After all, it is the resilience and cohesion of society that will determine whether Ukraine will be able to withstand another Kremlin attack.
