Fighting on the border of Sumy region: the situation on the contact line is constantly changing

As of the evening of May 29, fighting continues in Sumy region in certain areas of the border: near the settlements of Khotyn and Yunakivska communities. This was stated by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, on Facebook, according to
“The security situation in Sumy region is causing anxiety among residents, especially in the context of recent escalations on the border areas. However, the authorities assure that despite the difficulties, the region is under control.
Grigorov addressed the citizens with an important message about the situation and urged them not to delay evacuation from the dangerous areas.
“I know that the residents of Sumy region are now concerned about the worsening security situation. As the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, I am in daily contact with the military, law enforcement agencies, rescuers and communities. I undertake to personally and promptly inform you about the security situation, challenges and threats,” emphasized Oleg Grigorov.
According to the head of the JFO, as of the evening of May 29, the operational situation in the region remains difficult but under control.
“Active hostilities continue in certain areas of the border, in particular near the settlements of Khotyn and Yunakivska communities. The enemy is acting in small groups, trying to penetrate the border villages and gain a foothold,” the official said.
He added that the situation on the contact line is constantly changing – “somewhere we have the initiative, somewhere the enemy is active.”
Over the past day, more than 50 people have evacuated from the border communities of Sumy region.
