Debts, bankruptcies and a new course: how “Avtomobilni dorogy Ukrainy” plans to overcome the crisis

Despite the war, the Ukrainian road industry is not standing still. Oleksiy Doroshenko, acting chairman of the board of JSC SJSC Automobile Roads of Ukraine, addressed the staff with an open letter in which he outlined a new development strategy for the company in the coming years. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the company’s press release.

The main goal is to restore the financial stability of the company, regain the trust of employees and partners, and expand its business areas.

The company is changing – and everyone can be part of these changes

“There is a war going on, but we are standing firmly on our ground. To be even stronger, we need to change,” emphasized Oleksiy Doroshenko.

In his address, the CEO emphasized that the company is in a difficult situation but has a clear step-by-step action plan.

It includes not only traditional areas of work – road construction and maintenance – but also new strategic projects that meet the needs of wartime.

New areas: fortifications, demining, energy security

SJSC “Avtomobilni dorogy Ukrainy” plans to actively contribute to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

In particular, the company will

  • build protective facilities for energy infrastructure;
  • manufacture anti-drone structures for the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • create units that will be engaged in humanitarian demining of territories near key highways;
  • participate in the construction of fortifications.

These steps will allow the companies not only to ensure stable workloads but also to contribute to Ukraine’s defense and recovery.

Financial recovery: salaries, debts, stability

One of the top priorities is the financial recovery of the company.

According to Oleksiy Doroshenko:

“We plan to bring the Company back to life in 2-3 years. Everyone to whom the Company owes money will receive their money.”

The plans include

  • pay off all salary arrears in full;
  • pay off most of the taxes and duties owed;
  • pay off debts to creditors.

The team as a driver of change: initiative, responsibility, and dialog

The company’s management holds regular meetings with the heads of regional road companies to form a realistic picture of the state of the enterprises and determine who is really working effectively.

“Financial performance and personal proactivity are the main criteria for evaluating managers,” Doroshenko said.

He also appealed to all employees of the company, branches and divisions to share their ideas, comments and facts that will help improve the work of the enterprises.

Employee feedback is the basis of reform

Doroshenko noted that each message will be processed, and the most active employees will be able to join the implementation of new projects.

The company is ready to pay decent salaries to those who take the initiative and strive for real change.

“Your position will be the basis for management decisions. If you know how to improve the work, write to me!” the head urged.

SJSC “Avtomobilni dorogy Ukrainy” has set an ambitious but achievable goal: in 2-3 years, to return the company to the list of the largest market players, make it profitable and competitive, and make its employees highly paid professionals who are respected in the industry.

“The company is going through a difficult time, and it needs your support. Only together can we make it successful,” summarized Oleksiy Doroshenko.
