Took UAH 10 thousand for time off: one of the commanders of the Ukrainian Navy vessel detained

SBI officers served a notice of suspicion to the commander of a department on one of the Ukrainian Navy’s vessels, who would not let his subordinates go ashore without a bribe, reports
“In order to leave the ship on a legal day off, his subordinates had to pay him UAH 10,000. According to operational data, he could earn at least UAH 150,000 a month on sailors’ time off,”
– the statement said.
on 9 July 2024, law enforcement officers detained the defendant while receiving another payment of USD 1 thousand. He received this money from a subordinate for the opportunity to go to the land during the weekend for a month.
The serviceman was served a notice of suspicion of receiving an unlawful benefit by an official (Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).



The detainee was chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of custody with a possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 182 thousand.
The serviceman faces imprisonment for up to 10 years.
