Zara closes stores in Dnipro: all the details

9 February 11:17

Inditex, which develops the Zara brand and six other fashion brands, has finally terminated its lease agreements with the Most City and Karavan shopping centers in Dnipro. At the same time, the retailer continues to lease space for stores in shopping centers in Kharkiv and Odesa, although their fate remains uncertain.

This was reported by NV with reference to representatives of the Ukrainian industry.

What is known

Lydia Smetana, founder of the One By One clothing brand, said that the management of a number of shopping centers had approached Ukrainian manufacturers with offers of cooperation.

This happened even before the official termination of contracts with Inditex.

Smetana emphasized that these are new large locations that were previously inaccessible to Ukrainian brands due to the presence of international retail companies.

At the same time, she did not specify which shopping centers had offered One By One cooperation.

According to the publication, the reason for the closure was constant Russian shelling, unstable shopping center operations, and a decline in the number of shoppers, which made the business unprofitable.

As a reminder, all Inditex stores, including Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka, were closed on February 24, 2022, the day of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Since then, Inditex has stopped delivering goods to Ukraine but has continued to pay taxes and salaries to its 1,000 Ukrainian employees. Inditex also maintained its lease agreements with landlords during the store closure but did not disclose the terms.

The brands of Inditex, one of the world’s largest distribution groups in the fashion industry, officially returned to Ukraine in March 2024.
