Brussels is preparing decisive steps: Europe is urgently formulating a new peace plan for Ukraine

EU leaders are developing their own plan to end the war in Ukraine, which should be more favorable for Kyiv.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, European politicians are trying to convince Kyiv to support their draft document, which, according to the EU, takes into account conditions more favorable for Ukraine.
“Europe hopes to have a plan ready within days, but Kyiv has not yet committed to joining it,” the publication says.
What Europe is preparing
Although the final text is still being finalized, the key principles of the European proposal are as follows:
- no territorial concessions without Ukraine’s consent;
- preservation of Kyiv’s right to the full size and armament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- real, not declarative, security guarantees, including the possibility of deploying European peacekeepers;
- a clear path to EU and NATO membership after the war.
Brussels hopes that Kyiv will officially support the European initiative in order to jointly resist pressure from Washington.
Reaction in Kyiv
The Ukrainian leadership has not yet publicly joined any of the plans. After receiving the American document from US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, President Zelenskyy said he was ready for talks, but only on the basis of “real and fair” conditions.
At the same time, WSJ sources in European capitals note: Kyiv has already made it clear that the European option is much more attractive to it.
“We will not allow Ukraine to be surrendered. We have been fighting together for four years, and we will end this war together, on our terms,” the publication quoted a senior European diplomat as saying.
