The situation in Ukraine is expected to be quite difficult from mid-May, including at the frontline. The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said this in an interview with BBC Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

“We are facing a rather difficult situation in the near future, according to our assessment. But it’s not catastrophic, and you have to understand that. Armageddon is not going to happen, as many people are now starting to say. But there will be problems from mid-May,” he said,

– he said.

According to him, this applies to the frontline as well.

“This is a comprehensive approach, because the Russians will use a comprehensive approach. They are conducting a comprehensive operation. We will not talk about it for a long time, but it will be a difficult period. Mid-May, early June,”

– budanov said.

When asked if this would also apply to the domestic political situation, he replied: “We are talking about everything.”

Budanov also noted that he does not respond to pessimistic forecasts from the West, in particular, that Ukraine may lose the war this year.

“There is no reason to believe in Ukraine’s strategic loss. Yes, if we say that everything will go badly, well, it is quite clear that the result will be bad. However, if there are changes for the better – and there are still reasons to believe that this will happen,”

– added the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Acknowledging the problems at the front, he stressed that these problems did not appear today, or a month ago, or even three months ago.

“This is a systemic problem we are facing. And at the same time, we must remember that Ukraine still exists,”

– budanov said.
