In the Ukrainian labor market in 2024, the most in-demand professions are blue-collar jobs: construction workers, electricians, plumbers, welders, seamstresses, and other specialists with qualified training. Some of them are so unique that only one or two vacancies appear for them throughout the year. This was reported by the press service of the State Employment Service, which named the rarest professions in the labor market in 2024, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
These professions include, for example, a chimney cleaner, a sorter of unwashed wool, or a watchmaker at the city hall. However, there are even more exotic specialties that are extremely rare.

Yeast cultivation technician
Last year, only 12 requests for this profession were recorded. The task of the yeast technician is to control the yeast cultivation process: he monitors the temperature and humidity of the environment, selects and loads yeast into fermentation vats. It is these specialists who ensure the production of yeast for the bakery industry and other food industries.
Piano and grand piano tuner
Last year, only 5 vacancies for specialists capable of fine-tuning musical instruments appeared in employment centers. Tuners not only adjust the pitch to match the tuning fork, but also repair pianos and grand pianos.
There are 10 thousand parts in pianos and grand pianos, and a tuner must understand how each of them works. The duties of such a specialist also include the elimination of defects, restoration, so the tuner is also a “doctor” of musical instruments.
Halvo-mixer
This is a craftsman who specializes in the preparation of traditional oriental delicacies such as halva. Last year, only 4 vacancies for such specialists were opened.
This profession brings together specialists who prepare oriental desserts made from nuts and sugar. They regulate the process of mixing protein, nut, and caramel masses, monitor the stretching of halva threads and the creation of its layered fiber structure. Model
In 2024, there were only 4 vacancies for this unusual profession. Models pose for artists, sculptors, and photographers.
Employers have special requirements for them: the model must have a pronounced physical and plastic body structure, facial expressions, be able to demonstrate the poses in clothes and nude, be flexible and plastic, and most importantly, stand still for several hours, so this job is for the really hardy.
Props
Only 3 vacancies per year – this profession is so rare. Props create models of objects for theaters, movies, shop windows, and studios. They work with various materials to imitate the texture, color, and shape of real objects.
Pastiger
Only 2 requests for such specialists were recorded in Ukraine in 2024. Pastigers make wigs, mustaches, beards, and other accessories for theater productions, movies, and the fashion industry. They help actors transform into historical characters or fantasy creatures.
Embryologist
Last year, there was only one vacancy in Ukraine for an embryologist, a specialist in reproductive medicine. These specialists work in laboratories to help couples become parents. This is not only a challenging but also an extremely responsible profession that requires deep knowledge of biology and medicine.
