In Chernihiv, officers from the Territorial Center for Combating Organized Crime detained Ukrainian-Venezuelan choreographer Amador López, who, as it turned out, was wanted for draft evasion.
This was reported by the Novy Chernihiv TV channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the choreographer, he came to Chernihiv to negotiate the organization of a festival for children. In the city, Lopez was stopped for a military registration check, and it turned out that the artist was wanted. After that, the man was asked to go to the Military Registration and Enlistment Office to complete the paperwork, said Oleksandr Myronenko, deputy head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office.
According to Amador Lopez, he received Ukrainian citizenship three weeks before the start of the full-scale invasion. However, the choreographer did not know that he was required to register for military service, and by failing to do so, he would be in violation of the law.
“I, for example, didn’t know I was wanted. When they pulled up my full file, they told me I was wanted. I didn’t know that. It’s unpleasant—it’s unpleasant for me, and it would be unpleasant for anyone. But they asked for my documents in a completely calm manner; I showed them my documents, they checked them, and explained the procedure and where we were going,” said Amador López.
According to Oleksandr Myronenko, during a detailed review of the choreographer’s documents, it became clear that he had grounds for a deferral—his mother requires constant care, and Amador is her guardian.
“My mother is almost immobile. She needs constant medical care. I’m already my mother’s caregiver, but I need to make it official so that everything is in order,” added Lopez.
The Territorial Recruitment Center gave the choreographer a deadline by which he must officially apply for the deferment and then report to the territorial recruitment center. He was handed a summons for this purpose.
